WWStay Redesign

Redesign WWStay Online Accommodation Booking Portal
Overview
My Role
WWStay is one of the best accommodation providers in B2B platform. even though the company was making good business there was zero business through the online platform. The Project was to refine the entire platform and bring more people into the platform
Research, Wireframing, Prototyping, and Visual Design
2017-2018
Problem
After going through the entire portal and a couple of interviews with stakeholders it was clear that there were lots of gaps in the flow and there was no consistency in the visual design.

No Consistency

User flow Gaps &
Poor Navigation
Solution
1. A Design System
The primary solution was to come up with a design system that was guided by principles and best practices. Also, to keep with documented at each step to ensure consistency and efficiency of work.
2. Simplified Userflow
To solve the problem of complexity it was important to eliminate any unnecessary elements, flows and need to fix the user flow gaps
Challenges
1. A Design System
A Design System is not a one-man project and if you want it to succeed you need everyone on board. The more integrated you want it the more disciplines you need at the table.
2. Breaking this news to clients
Even though there were no active clients, Yet, it was important to keep them involved and excited about the big changes we were planning.
3. Time
I was new to the company, and it was my first major task. and they needed it in 4 months. Because there was a business exhibition coming up and management wanted to put it over there.
First Step : The Design system
The first step was to review every aspect of the product and try to list all important components on a paper, then group elements by their usages. For example, style group could be basic assets such as colors and fonts, and components group would include buttons, cards, tables, filters, and etc.

Second Step : Simplify the flow
After going through the product, the first thing I noticed was the flow and navigation. it was no where similar to something we have seen in other booking platforms. it was difficult. for example, to view the previous booking I have made there was no button or tab which will take me to the trips page.

Third Step: Make it better
Now it was the time to rethink the pages. Just not the looks but also we needed to bring some magic to the portal so that customer keep using it and they should come back. Let me show you a couple of redesigned pages.

New pages designed using the updated style guide, which is fully WCAG compliant.
A Better Experience
Simplified Navigation with proper links to the pages from the landing page itself.
1. Redefined Header
Redesigned the search box and gave more breathing space in the landing page. simpler and effective search box which doesn't distract the image in the background.
2. Better Visual Appeal
3. Personalization
Apart from the search box, added some extra elements like popular destinations and hotels suggestions based on the previous bookings from the same client.

Impact
Numerous hours of brainstorming, careful planning, sketching, designing and developing has brought the results. We were proud to present the new face of the product to our clients. The final result, platform is a light, minimalistic, and an intuitive product personalized for each client which help them in getting stay they want.
